Agree - those old survey markers are cool. One I nabbed just a few weeks ago above...

There’s a whole bunch of those hanging out in the bush near where I live. They surveyed a bunch of roads and cottage lots back in the ‘30's and decided against actually clearing them. They all have something about the king and 7 years imprisonment for removal stamped on them. I sometimes wonder how many are still in the exact spot they were planted, or if they’ve been shifted slightly by 80 years of freeze and thaw cycles.

In Winchester VA, there’s a cannon ball in the street from the civil war. It sticks up about half an inch. The opposite of a pothole

I saw these all over Gisborne N.Z. “First to see the light.” (Their claim to fame-first city east of the international date line.)

I spent 4 glorious months as a survey crew helper and now I have to stop and shoot them whenever I stumble upon them. Good find, thanks for sharing!

You’re welcome. My first job out of school was with the USFWS doing some GPS heavy field work. I always had to know where the hard points were.

We’ve got s solid car culture around here. Everything from bro trucks to super cars to concours level antiques. There’s a ‘57 Chevy hot rod two houses up from me and a half-plastidiped veloster five doors down.
I also found out recently that there’s a guy with a gallardo and a viper who makes his living on YouTube videos somewhere in town. It’s a good place to live as a gearhead.
The only thing that sucks is that they all go inside to hide in the winter.

I jest! The Wife is from Maine so I point shit out to her like this all the time. The Winter up there is no joke and it lasts longer than what I remember in Michigan.
